Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the OneCut Shop application and website (the "Service"), operated by OneCut Studios LLC, a Michigan limited liability company ("we," "us," "our"). By creating an account, using the app in offline mode, or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. The Service

OneCut Shop is a workshop tool suite for woodworkers, covering design, calculators, reference material, and shop management, across web, Android, and iOS. The Service is offline-first: most features work fully without an internet connection or an account. OneCut Shop is currently in private beta, and features, availability, and pricing may change.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction).
An account is optional. You can use the app fully offline with a local profile, or create a cloud account (email/password or Google sign-in) for features that require one, such as AI credits or a future sync tier.
You are responsible for activity under your account and for keeping access to it secure.
You must provide accurate information and may not impersonate others.

3. Your content

You retain all rights to the content you create in the app — designs, calculations, photos, notes, and other material ("Your Content").
Your Content is stored locally on your device by default and is not transmitted to us, except the specific, limited cases described in the Privacy Policy (AI advisor requests, feedback submissions, and — for future sync features — content you explicitly choose to sync).
You represent that you have the necessary rights to any content you upload or submit (e.g. photos) and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

4. AI features

OneCut Shop includes optional AI-assisted advisors (Joinery, Design, Finish, Cost, and Wood). These are entirely optional — the app functions fully without them.
When used, your question and any project details you include are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic, via a proxy we operate, or directly if you supply your own API key) to generate a response, as described in the Privacy Policy.
AI output can be wrong. Advisor responses are generated automatically and are not a substitute for professional judgment, especially for anything involving structural soundness, load-bearing joinery, finishing chemicals, or shop safety. You are responsible for verifying any AI-generated suggestion before acting on it.

5. Calculators, reference data, and safety

OneCut Shop's calculators and reference tools (dimensions, material estimates, safety values such as dust collection CFM, spray booth face velocity, lathe speeds, and similar figures) are provided for informational and planning purposes only. They are not a substitute for manufacturer specifications, applicable building or safety codes, or your own judgment and equipment manuals. Always verify safety-critical values (e.g. tool speeds, ventilation requirements, finishing product handling) against the manufacturer's documentation before relying on them.

6. Cloud accounts, AI credits, and billing

Some features — cloud accounts, AI credit packs, and subscription tiers — are paid or will be paid once billing is available. Current pricing and plan details, where live, are shown in the app before purchase.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Subscriptions, where offered, renew automatically unless cancelled before the renewal date; refunds follow Stripe's and our stated policy at time of purchase.
The offline, local-only version of the app is and will remain free.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to: (a) use the Service for unlawful purposes; (b) upload content that is infringing, hateful, or malicious; (c) probe, disrupt, or overload the Service, including our AI proxy or feedback endpoints; (d) attempt to access other users' data or accounts; (e) resell, scrape, or redistribute the Service or its content; (f) reverse-engineer the app except where the law permits; or (g) use the Service, including AI features, to develop a competing product or dataset.

8. Our intellectual property

The Service — including the apps, design, logos, and software — is owned by OneCut Studios LLC or its licensors and is protected by law. These Terms grant you a personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for its intended purpose. "OneCut Shop," "OneCut Studios," and associated marks may not be used without permission. During the private beta, use of the Software is additionally governed by the license terms in the app's LICENSE file, which controls in the event of conflict regarding beta access specifically.

9. Third-party services

The Service depends on third parties (Supabase for cloud accounts, Anthropic for AI features, Stripe for payments, Google for optional sign-in). We are not responsible for third-party services, and their availability may affect the Service.

10. Data portability, retention, and deletion

Because most of Your Content lives locally on your device, you control its portability and deletion directly — export it via the app's built-in `.onecut` file export, or delete it by clearing app data or uninstalling.
To delete a cloud account and its associated data (email, display name, account tier), email info@onecutshop.app. See the Privacy Policy for details.

11. Disclaimers

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, OR UNINTERRUPTED AVAILABILITY. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT AI-GENERATED SUGGESTIONS, CALCULATOR RESULTS, OR REFERENCE DATA ARE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE, OR THAT DATA STORED ONLY ON YOUR DEVICE WILL NEVER BE LOST — MAINTAIN YOUR OWN BACKUPS OR EXPORTS OF IRREPLACEABLE PROJECT DATA.

12. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ONECUT STUDIOS LLC WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING RELIANCE ON ANY CALCULATOR RESULT OR AI-GENERATED SUGGESTION. OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE, OR (B) TEN U.S. DOLLARS (US$10). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless OneCut Studios LLC and its officers, members, and agents from claims arising out of Your Content, your use of the Service, or your breach of these Terms.

14. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or create risk for us or other users; where practical we will give notice and an opportunity to export Your Content. Sections that by their nature should survive (3, 5, 8, 11–13, 15–16) survive termination.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. For material changes we will provide notice in the app or on our site, and the updated effective date will appear above. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Michigan, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Nothing in this section limits rights you may have under mandatory consumer-protection law in your place of residence.
